Lost Feathers Investigations is a subsidiary company of the American Rescue Project. That specializes in missing native Americans. Lost Feathers has integral knowledge that can help families in times of crises. With so many avenues to choose from when launching a missing person investigation, it can become overwhelming. You may feel lost in the shuffle. That’s where Lost Feathers comes in and provides you the advocacy you are looking for. We come alongside you and help you understand the first steps in properly filing a missing person’s report. We assist you in creating a viable action plan as we work to bring your loved ones home.
Systemic Issues
Native American rates of murder, rape, and violent crime are all higher than the national averages. Data shows a significant portion of missing and murdered individuals are Native American men and women. These cases often are lost in the shuffle or not investigated properly.
What We Do

Consulting
We can help you navigate the complexities of an ongoing investigation. We act as a go-between for you and law enforcement as well as MMIP. We provide you with common sense answers and set expectations.

Advocacy
We come alongside you. We help you understand the first steps in properly filing a missing person’s report when someone goes missing. We also assist you in creating a viable action plan as we work to bring your loved one home.

Cases
Roy Tsatoke disappeared on the evening of September 22, 2024, from 802B Hiller Road McKinleyville CA, 95519. He has never been heard from again. Our firm is currently investigating his disappearance.

Collaboration
We will collaborate with local MMIP investigators and local law enforcement. Our aim is to create a comprehensive plan and investigation to get answers quickly. This will help negate the waste of time.

Search and Rescue
We will come to you. We will get boots on the ground to start our investigation. Our investigation starts where the missing victims were last seen. We understand that time is of the essence, and you want action. Organizing a Seach and Rescue

Cases
Emmilee Renea Risling was last seen walking alone on a bridge over the Klamath River. This was in the Down River/Weitchpec area near Peewan on the Yurok Reservation in Humboldt County, California. The date was October 14, 2021. Our firm is currently investigating her disappearance.

MMIP Grants California
Read about grants awarded to federally recognized tribes in California. These grants support efforts to identify and collect case-level data. They also help to publicize and investigate cases involving missing and murdered indigenous people. The grants aim to solve these critical cases.

OVC
Victims of Crime (OVC), one of six Program Offices within the Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice. Through the Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside (TVSSA) formula grant program, OVC administers funds. These funds enhance services for victims of crime in Tribal communities. View an infographic.
